NEW LYNN ERA BEGINS WITH FIGHT FOR POINT

- By David Johnson

KING’S Lynn scored early and late goals in their first league outing under caretaker managers Robbie Back and Neil Fryatt to secure a draw with Halesowen.

The Linnets snatched a second-minute lead when Michael Clunan’s deep free-kick was headed back at the far post by Ryan Fryatt for Craig Parker to convert from close range. But the lead lasted only four minutes as home striker James Roberts steered home Jack Kelly’s sixth minute left-wing cross.

Chances then came at each end with Halesowen’s Babucar Sauane curling wide on his debut before home goalkeeper Dan Platt collected Jarvis Ryan’s 18th minute raking shot.

Hard-working Roberts forced a 25th minute save from goalkeeper Alexander Street and Street then saved Jordan Goddard’s free-kick.

Lee Hughes fired home a 49th minute penalty to put the Yeltz ahead after his legs were clipped in the danger zone. Street then saved from home defender Asa Charlton at his post after 55 minutes and Ahmed Ali lifted a 63rd minute shot over the bar.

But the visitors finished the game on top as Hughes cleared off his own line before The Linnets rescued a point when Frazer BlakeTracy crossed for Harry Limb to score with a superb diving header.
