LOGAN SNATCHES A POINT

- By Phil Smith

PICKERING Town came from 4-1 down with three minutes to go to draw 4-4 with Frickley Athletic, pulling off a remarkable comeback.

The game looked to be over with half an hour left after Jacob Hazel, Tyler Walton, and Jameel Ible’s first-half goals had put Frickley in a commanding position.

Walton then added a second 15 minutes into the second half to seemingly kill the game.

Ryan Blott then converted a spot-kick in the 87th minute but it felt like merely a consolation goal for the side.

But Dan Davison netted just two minutes later to give Pickering even more hope, before Billy Logan headed in from a corner with virtually the last touch of the game to snatch an incredible and improbable point for the home side.

Pickering have now lost just once in their last five games as they attempt to overturn a poor start to the campaign in the league.

Wisbech Town’s run without a league win now stretches to six matches after a 4-2 home defeat to Loughborough Dynamo in what was a very entertaining match.

Karl Demidh had given the visitors the lead after 15 minutes but Toby Hilliard’s first goal for the Fenmen since joining from King’s Lynn Town evened things up 16 minutes later.

Ollie Gale slid in 11 minutes after the break after excellent work from Aaron Hart to give Wisbech the lead.

But Sam Gaughran handled in the area to gift Loughborough a penalty which was duly dispatched by Daniel Gordon.

Straight from the restart, substitute Corbi Brown broke the offside trap to give Dynamo the lead again.

Brown’s second and Dynamo’s fourth goal left Wisbech too much to do in the remaining nine minutes.

Belper Town climbed to sixth in the table after beating Pontefract Collieries 3-2 in a topsyturvy encounter at The Marstons Stadium. Pontefract took the lead early on before George Milner equalized for Belper.

Belper then went in front early in the second half as club captain Alex Peterson prodded home after more clever work from Milner.

But Pontefract showed strong resolve and equalized through Eli Hey.

The winner came from the inspirational George Milner in the dying minutes to move his side to within touching distance of a play-off place.

Paul Grimes scored a second half penalty as

Lincoln United beat Ossett United 1-0 in a match where Ossett could have snatched a point.

The first half saw both sides create numerous half-chances without being able to make the breakthrough.

Early in the second half Brett Souter made a crucial double save, diving at the feet of a Lincoln player when a short back-pass barely reached him. He was quickly up to push a shot away for a corner.

Ossett pressed without a great deal of success but then a Lincoln breakaway ended with a trip inside the box. A penalty was awarded, and Paul Grimes stepped up to fire the ball past Souter.

Elsewhere,

Cleethorpes Town were ruthlessly torn apart by

Tadcaster Albion in what was a devastating second-half from the visitors as they triumphed 5-1.

But they battled valiantly early on and went in at the break at 1-1 after Billy Whitehouse’s sixth minute strike was cancelled out by Scott Vernon.

But the second-half was a different story as goals from Harry Coates, Casey Stewart, Lamin Colley and Joe Lumsden punished Cleethorpes.

First-half goals from Jenk Acar and James Hugo gave Spalding

United their first league win of the season as they beat Sheffield FC 2-1 in a fine home victory as they moved off the bottom of the table.
