ROBBINS ON SONG TO BEAT CASUALS

- By Graeme Auger

STORTFORD maintained their unbeaten run to climb further up the league table as they beat Casuals.

The Casuals’ attack just never got going as they were comfortably downed.

The hosts took the lead in the 13th minute after Jake Cass won the ball on the right and his cross into the six-yard box was netted by Alfie Mason.

Soon afterwards Jamie Cureton saw his shot produce a fine save from Bradley Comins and the keeper was in action again to deny a Cass header.

Warren Mfula went close with a header for the Casuals but Cass and Mason were just off target for the Blues.

The hosts then had a perfect start after the break with Cureton latching on to a through ball from Chris Gregan and firing past Comins in the 49th minute.

Apart from an effort by Jordan Clarke that Calum Kitscha saved at the near post the visitors offered little in the second half.

Stortford had a number of chances to increase their lead.

And Cass got on the scoresheet at last with three minutes left when Mason delivered a long pass to the edge of the area where the ball bounced off the chest of the on-coming Comins and the Blues striker headed the rebound over the Casuals stopper.
