CLARETS ARE HIT FOR SIX BY CLINICAL COMMONERS
SUTTON Common Rovers marched into the next round on Friday night with a superb win over sorry league rivals Horley Town.
It was the visitors who took the lead after just three minutes when Ayden Richards capitalised on a loose ball to fire home the opener.
Sutton hit back in the 23rd minute as Marlon Pinder scored his first goal for the club, smashing a fierce strike in off the post.
The home side then took the lead before halftime after Neset Bellikli’s pinpoint corner was met by the diving header of Guy Baskerville.
At half-time the game was still in the balance but just seven minutes after the break, Sutton had made it 3-1 when Ollie Twum fired in at the near post.
Soon after, Bellikli laid on another goal, this time for Jeff AdduDankwa to head in.
On the hour, Sutton made it five. This time Twum crossed and Matt Tanton’s effort took a deflection past goalkeeper George Hyde.
And Sutton’s stunning start to the second half was completed in the 64th minute when substitute Phil Page netted the sixth with another deflected shot, the fourth goal to come into the first 20 minutes of the half.
Poor Horley had no answer to the response as they slipped out.
