BASFORD United recorded their fifth successive win but were made to fight all the way by bottom of the table North Ferriby, who belied their positon with a spirited performance.

Jordan Harrison forced a save from Keiran Preston on 29 minutes in the visitors’ first attack and Dan Nichols headed in from the corner.

Six minutes later Basford were level, Nat Watson heading in Jack Thomas’ cross.

The second half was just thirty seconds old when Harrison headed Ferriby back in front.

Basford pushed forward and were denied by a number of fine saves by Ferriby keeper Lewis Exall, who produced a stunning save to tip over Lewis Carr’s header then saved the follow up from James Reid.

Basford levelled again on 68 minutes, a good move by Liam Hearn and Zak Goodson ended with James Williamson turning Goodson’s cross into his own goal

The visitors were reduced to ten with fourteen minutes remaining as Dan Nichols saw red for a rash challenge.

Two minutes later, Basford were ahead for the first time through a superb header from Hearn, meeting Liam Bateman’s cross.

In the final minute Basford wrapped up the points, Nat Watson heading in Deon Meikle’s cross at the far post.
