Sweeney swoops to Pitmen’s rescue

HEDNESFORD and Bamber Bridge were forced to settle for a point thanks to two second half goals.
The Pitmen started the game on the front foot and should really have been ahead in the fifth minute but Michael Howard fired well over the goal when well placed.
The visitors started to come more into the game as the half wore on and had a great chance in the 22nd minute but Matthew ArgentBarnes lifted his effort well over the goal with just goalkeeper Josef Bursik to beat.
In the 41st minute a wonderful fingertip save from Bursik saw the young goalkeeper deny Brad Carsley.
The visitors took the lead in the 55th minute when a mistake in the Pitmen backline saw the ball worked to Argent-Barnes with the striker making no mistake from 15 yards out.
Just 60 seconds later Hednesford should really have equalized when Howard picked out Josh Craddock but the midfielder headed wide from six yards out.
Hednesford equalised in the 81st minute when the ball broke to Dan Sweeney who drove forward before unleashing an effort from 25 yards that found the top corner of the net.
Hednesford almost won it in stoppage time when a long throw was flicked on to Howard but the he couldn’t turn home at the far post.
