The bell Tills for Lye in big win
LYE Town booked their place in the third round with victory over lower-ranked Brocton but needed two late goals to finally kill off their battling visitors.
Lye made the perfect start when Joe Lawley fired them into a second-minute lead after latching on to a Josh McKenzie pass.
It took the home side until the 65th minute before they added to their tally but they did so in style with Jack Till latching on to a pin-point 40-yard pass before thumping his shot past the keeper.
But the visitors responded well and reduced the arrears when the Lye defence failed to clear a corner and defender Adam Weldon forced the ball over the line.
The MFL Division One side had dumped fancied Highgate United out of the competition in the previous round and the goal gave them a further boost
But they were undone by two goals in the final six minutes. Ash Parsons-Smith netted the home side’s third, turning in the rebound after a shot had been parried by the keeper.
And then it was Dreniz Bala who wrapped up the scoring when he beat the offside trap before lobbing the keeper.
