Barum stun Bluebells as run ends

The Non-League Football Paper - - SOUTHERN LEAGUE CENTRAL & SOUTH - By John Davis

TWO breakaway Barnstaple goals earned the points and brought Yate's unbeaten league run to an end.

The home side paid the penalty of missing chances in the first half with Ben Brooks, Ollie Mehew and Adam Price all squandering chances of putting them in front.

Then in a rare attack, Barnstaple took the lead in the 22nd minute when Harry Stevens' cross deflected off a Yate defender and in.

Yate again had more of the possession after the break but found the Barnstaple defence hard to break down until Josh Ford headed in the equaliser from a Price corner on the hour.

The visitors soaked up further pressure and went ahead again soon afterwards when Stevens got free down the left and from his deep cross Tallan Mitchell volleyed in on the far post.

Yate pushed hard in the closing stages but the late leveller proved elusive.

STAR MAN: Harry Stevens (Barnstaple) ENTERTAINMENT: ★★★★★
