Caol are Welfare league champions

The Oban Times - - News 9 -

CAOL United have won the Marine Harvest welfare league for the second year running, after beating Mallaig 6-5 on Friday. The winners have been undefeated in the league so far but still have to play Lundavra in a previously postponed game.

But as Caol are six points clear they can’t be knocked from the top, and will be presented with the league trophy tomorrow night (Friday) by David Corrigan of sponsors Marine Harvest.

In the only other game played this week, Mallaig beat Lochaber 3-1, seeing them finish in second place with 27 points.

The final two competitions kicked off last week, the Duthie cup for the top three teams and the Kinloch shield for the bottom three.

Lundavra and Nevis Range played the first game of the shield on Tuesday night, before Nevis Range take on Ballachulish tonight (Thursday).

Tomorrow night Caol United and Lochaber will go head to head in the first game of the Duthie cup before Nevis Range play for the third time in the Kinloch shield, against Lundavra on Tuesday.
