House prices in modest fall
THE average house price in Argyll and Bute fell by 1.6 per cent in the first quarter of the new financial year, according to figures released this week.
The house price survey, carried out quarterly by the Registers of Scotland, found that the average price of a residential property in the area between April and June 2015 was £153,629, compared with £156,066 for 2014.
Argyll and Bute was one of ten local authority areas in Scotland where house values fell in comparison to the same quarter last year.
The total volume of residential property sales in Argyll and Bute also showed a decline in comparison to the same time last year, of 4.2 per cent, while the total value of sales in the council area fell by 5.7 per cent, to £ 55,767,146.
The statistics cover all residential sales, including those not involving a mortgage.
