Lochalsh teenager receives top award for public service
A WEST Highland teenager has received an award for public service.
Ruraidh Stewart, from Balmacara, Lochalsh, was given the Jubilee accolade during a ceremony at the House of Lords for outstanding practical action in the service of others.
The 16-year- old teenager, who is the Skye, Lochaber and Badenoch representative for the Scottish youth parliament, was recognised for his unstinting work with the junior climate challenge fund and promoting sustainability and low carbon lifestyles. Ruraidh, a Saltire awards ambassador, was the only Scottish recipient among eight winners at the prestigious London ceremony on July 30.
