Hard work reaps reward for pupils
EXAM performance in the Highlands has improved, results announced this week showed.
While teenagers across the region waited on the postman on Tuesday, Highland council said this year’s S5 results were an improvement on last year, while S4 was down slightly.
In the new Higher exams, 443 pupils passed five in one sitting compared to 361 in 2014. There were also 77 pupils who achieved five straight As this year, up one on last year.
Councillor Drew Millar, chairman of the local authority’s education, children and adult service’s committee, praised the pupils: ‘I am delighted to hear that all the hard work put in by pupils, families and staff has delivered a good set of results for the Highlands.
‘I wish to congratulate them all and offer my best wishes for whatever pathway the pupils pursue in the future.’
