Two in a row for Caol United
IT WAS two in a row for Lochaber Welfare League 2015 winners, Caol United, as they scooped the trophy again this year.
The team were undefeated in the league and team captain, Farquhar MacRae, was pleased to accept the cup on behalf of the club during training on Friday July 31. The trophy was presented by Marine Harvest’s representatives, Davie Corrigan and Gareth Butterfield.
Stephen Lopez, team manager said: ‘I’d like to say a big thank you to Marine Harvest for its continued sponsorship of the Lochaber welfare league.
‘The boys in the team have performed really well all season, and we will aim for much of the same next year.’
With the league finished, the cup competitions are now well underway with Lundavra taking an early lead in the Kinloch Shield when they beat Nevis Range 2- 0 last Tuesday, but Nevis pulled it back with a 6-1 victory against Ballachulish on Thursday night.
In the Duthie cup, Caol United continued their success with a 10- 4 win over Lochaber.
This week Nevis Range were scheduled to play Lundavra for the shield on Tuesday (August 4) before taking on Ballachulish tonight (Thursday).
Next week, Lochaber and Lundavra will play in the semifinal of the Uisdean MacDonald memorial cup, along with Mallaig and Nevis Range, ahead of the final on August 14.
