Tributes paid to isles coun­cil­lor

TRIBUTES have been paid to Iain Mor­ri­son, a Western Isles coun­cil­lor who died on July 30.

The 60-year- old Lewis coun­cil­lor was elected to Comhairle nan Eilean Siar in 1999 and many of his fel­low mem­bers at­tended his fu­neral on Tues­day.

Mr Mor­ri­son was best known for his fundrais­ing ef­forts and was a mem­ber of nu­mer­ous com­mu­nity groups in­clud­ing the Bar­vas war me­mo­rial com­mit­tee and West­side football club.

Nor­man A Mac­Don­ald, con­venor of the comhairle, said: ‘Our thoughts are with his fam­ily at this very sad time. Iain was a man who cared greatly for these is­lands and par­tic­u­larly for the com­mu­nity which he rep­re­sented.’
