A CHAR­ITY grants scheme cov­er­ing Is­lay and Jura will pro­mote its next round of fund­ing at the Is­lay show to­day (Thurs­day).

The ‘On Your Marks’ scheme of­fers be­tween £250 and £2,000 for projects which in­crease ac­tive par­tic­i­pa­tion, im­prove well­be­ing, help peo­ple build con­nec­tions and pro­mote in­clu­sion.

To be el­i­gi­ble for fund­ing, groups must be con­sti­tuted with char­i­ta­ble sta­tus.

On Your Marks is the latest part of the ‘Is­lay and Jura Four­teen’ fund­ing scheme.

It was put in place af­ter Is­lay and Jura was se­lected last year as one of 14 com­mu­ni­ties to ben­e­fit from £ 3.5mil­lion of grants from the char­ity, Spirit, es­tab­lished by the Big Lottery Fund as part of the Com­mon­wealth Games.

The grants sup­port a broad range of ac­tiv­ity with a fo­cus on grass­roots sport and phys­i­cal ac­tiv­ity, arts and cul­ture, youth de­vel­op­ment and volunteering.
