THE ROCKFIELD Centre in Oban is now sitting pretty after receiving benches and tables for a picnic area.

Fusion Marine, based at Barcaldine, supplied the garden furniture and generously donated one of the benches to Oban Communities Trust, the organisation that owns the former primary school building.

Caroline Boswell, who is leading the grounds group for the centre, said: ‘ We are very grateful to Fusion Marine for this donation and already the benches and tables are enjoying good use, when the weather is clement.

‘Being made of recycled plastic, they will not be as affected by the weather and we hope they will be in use for many years by both visitors and the local community.’

Funding for the benches was part of the grant award from the Holyrood-sponsored project, Stalled Spaces, and Argyll and Bute Community Partnership’s Health and Wellbeing Fund.

Fusion Marine is one of leading suppliers of fish farming equipment and, in recent years, has diversified its range of operations which include bespoke outdoor solutions for the leisure industry including garden furniture.

Alan Forsyth of Fusion Marine said: ‘ We are delighted to be able to help Oban Communities Trust and The Rockfield Centre and hope the picnic bench will be well used by everyone.’

Meanwhile, good progress is being made clearing the grounds at the centre, with a work party hard at it every Thursday evening at 6pm. Volunteers are always welcome.
