Big-hearted donors stock uniform bank

The Oban Times - - News -

KIND-HEARTED Lochaber women have come together in an effort to provide school uniforms to children in need.

In just four days trousers, shirts, shoes and jackets have been collected by Lochaber Women for Independence for what they have dubbed the ‘ back to school bank’.

The clothes will be donated to Lochaber Women’s Aid then sent on to those in need.

In what started as a last minute collection, the ladies are now considering making the collection year-round.

Donna Darnbrough, one of the organisers, said: ‘ We only started the collection at the weekend so it’s gone really well to get as much as we have. Everyone’s feeling the pinch just now, so it’s nice that people are still thinking of others and donating rather than selling.’

Another volunteer, Carol Anne Campbell, added: ‘ We’ve got about 30 items of clothing already, but the schools go back on Tuesday so there’s not much time left.

‘We’ve also had some donations so if there’s anything needed that we don’t have we can buy it.’

Donations of school uniform, lunch boxes, bags and stationery in good condition can be donated to Loco Motif body art in Caol.
