Help to clean-up mountain plea

The Oban Times - - News -

CLIMBERS, outdoor enthusiasts and engineers are being sought for a major mountain clean-up on Rannoch Moor.

Old fencing, rusting steel and cables are to be removed from Meall a’ Brhuiridh this weekend and organisers, Glencoe mountain resort, are looking for as many people to help as possible on both Saturday and Sunday.

Anyone fit enough to walk up and down the steep slopes can volunteer, but engineers are required to cut large pieces of cable and experienced climbers can help by accessing the steep ravines and gullies.

The junk will be collected in helicopter bags to be airlifted from the mountain later in the week. All volunteers will meet at the mountain resort’s base cafe at 9am on both days to be sorted into teams. For more information contact Andy Meldrum on 07977553901.
