Saints at home in first league game of the season

The Oban Times - - Sport -

AFTER a successful pre-season, Oban Saints get down to the business of picking up league points when they take on East Kilbride in the first league game of the SAFL season.

The match will be played at Glen 2 with a 2pm kick- off. Referee in charge is Alan Frame.

This could prove a tricky fixture for Saints as East Kilbride lifted the Premier Division One league title last season so Saints can’t afford to take the visitors lightly.

Manager, Alex Craik, should have a full squad to choose from for this important fixture.

Alex said: ‘ We’ve had a great pre-season, but it’s now down to the nitty gritty of picking up league points.

‘I’ve got to pick my first squad of 16 players, which is going to be difficult as everybody has done really well in pre-season.

‘Some players will be disappointed at being left out, but as long as they continue to come to training and work hard they will be given their chance as the season goes on.’

The following Saturday the Oban side travel to Greenock to take on Inverclyde.

Well turned out shinty referees
