Five cars in crash near to ceme­tery

FIVE cars were in­volved in two sep­a­rate traf­fic ac­ci­dents on Mon­day on the A85 near Pen­ny­fuir Ceme­tery.

First there was a three- car col­li­sion, with one of the cars left at the side of the road, with a bashed-up bumper, await­ing as­sis­tance.

Fol­low­ing this, in the queue of traf­fic, a car rammed in to the back of another.

There were no ma­jor in­juries, but po­lice are urg­ing peo­ple to drive with cau­tion in slip­pery con­di­tions.

Mull coun­cil­lor on ferry ten­der panel

THE com­mit­tee that will over­see the west coast ferry ten­der has ap­pointed Mull coun­cil­lor, Mary-Jean Devon, to its panel.

The Scot­tish gov­ern­ment’s In­de­pen­dent Scru­tiny panel, which will de­cide the out­come of the ferry ten­der, is due to meet be­tween Septem­ber and De­cem­ber.

In­de­pen­dent MSP back left pro­ject

IN­DE­PEN­DENT High­lands and Is­lands MSP, Jean Urquhart, has backed the Scot­tish Left Pro­ject, a pro-in­de­pen­dence group en­deav­our­ing to build an elec­toral al­ter­na­tive in Scot­land.

Urquhart was a mem­ber of the SNP, but re­signed over the party’s stance on Nato.

Movie star Kristin on an is­lands tour

BAFTA-win­ning ac­tress. Kristin Scott Thomas, was spot­ted on Mull, Iona and Staffa on Tues­day. Thomas, who was Os­car nom­i­nated in 1996, was thought to be on a ‘three is­land’ tour.
