Lochaber run­ners come out on top in Two Inns race

THREE Lochaber ath­letic club run­ners came out on top in a race against ex­pe­ri­enced run­ners from all over Scot­land.

An­drew Bar­ring­ton was Lochaber’s first mem­ber to cross the fin­ish line of the Two Inns Scot­tish cham­pi­onship and was 10th over­all in the com­pe­ti­tion on Satur­day.

Jon Gay crossed in 12th place mak­ing him the sec­ond lo­cal to fin­ish and Stu­art Crutch­field fin­ished 26th over­all mak­ing him the third lo­cal.

Lochaber mem­bers were met with com­pe­ti­tion from Glas­gow, Fife and Ar­gyll and ex­pe­ri­enced good con­di­tions in Glen­coe.

A Lochaber ath­letic club coach said: ‘ Well done to all who took part in the Two Inns race. A big thanks to all or­gan­is­ers and helpers, Glen­coe and Oban moun­tain res­cue teams and a big thank you to Glen­coe visi­tor cen­tre for use of the car park.’

On the same day, some other mem­bers of the club took part in the Craig Dubh hill race 2015 when Amanda Black­hall was com­mended for cross­ing the fin­ish­ing line first in the vet­eran over 40 fe­male cat­e­gory and sec­ond fe­male over­all. Steven Burns, 17, fin­ished sec­ond in the 800m race.
