LACK of investment by the Scottish government is to blame for ferries not running on time.
That was the claim of a senior councillor after the MV Finlaggan was delayed at the weekend with ‘engine trouble’ before being replaced by the MV Lord of the Isles.
Islay councillor, Robin Currie, said it caused ‘havoc’ for travellers. He went on: ‘Once again we have had a breakdown at one of the busiest times of the year and because Holyrood hasn’t invested enough in ferries, there isn’t a suitable boat to replace it.’
A CalMac spokesman apologised for any inconvenience: ‘We appreciate the disruption breakdowns cause and strive to have them fixed as quickly as possible with an alternative vessel as cover while the repair takes place.’
