Men fined £40 for fighting in the street

The Oban Times - - News -

A LARGE street brawl was stopped thanks to two police officers who were passing the scene in Oban’s George Street last Thursday morning.

At 2.20am, police noticed a large crowd of around 25 people had gathered in the street. Breaking their way through the crowd, they saw four men, all from Oban, fighting.

Police immediately dispersed the crowd and took the four men into custody.

Laws recently placed on the statute book meant the men were held in custody before being served with a £40 anti-social behaviour order - otherwise known as a fixed penalty notice.

Sergeant Alan Moore, from Oban police station, said: ‘Violence will not be tolerated and anyone who is involved in anti-social behaviour will be cautioned and charged.’
