A BORDER collie showed why a dog is a man’s best friend when he helped his owner, John MacKillop, take home a trophy at the Scottish national sheepdog championships.
The Fort Augustus man took six-year-old Joe to the Dingwall competition and spent three days competing before taking home the champion title.
Judge J.G. Templeton said: ‘John had a tremendous, straight fetch, and a near immaculate drive. It was a good, steady run and a well-deserved win.’
Mr MacKillop, who helps look after 1600 ewes on Glendoe Estate, previously won the trials in 1994 and captains the Scottish team of 15 dogs due to represent the country at the international championship in Dumfries-shire next month.
