SIX ADDITIONAL nurses and healthcare professionals have been recruited to the Marie Curie cancer care service in the Western Isles, providing support to people living with a terminal illness.
Marie Curie nurses provides care to patients who wish to spend their final days at home.
The extra staff for Lewis and Harris will complement the three existing nurses who provide overnight care to residents in Benbecula, Barra and Uist. The service is run in partnership with NHS Western Isles. Lynne Miller, the Marie Curie clinical nurse manager for the Western Isles, said: ‘Our new nursing team members are excited to get started and will be working closely with NHS Western Isles staff to provide joined-up care and support where it is so desperately needed.’
