Taynuilt ceilidh

The Oban Times - - Births, Marriages & Deaths -

Duncan MacNeil, of the Furan Gaelic Centre in Oban, was the jovial Fear an Taighe for last Thursday’s Taynuilt ceilidh, which again featured a wealth of local talent.

Piper for the evening was Benderloch’s Emma Law whose skilled playing was most enjoyable.

Young dancers Isla and Iona MacKay, Erin Jackson and Eva MacColl from the Isla Sinclair and Trish MacKay Schools of Dance danced superbly.

Martin Charlton sang for the company, following on from the lively clàrsach playing of his daughter Breagha, a student at the Traditional Music School at Plockton.

Rebecca MacPherson sang some solo songs before she was joined by brother James and Hannah Gillies, Anna Garvin and Merle Harbron to play some stunning instrumental sets.

RionaMacCormick rounded off the night with her beautiful singing – very much a case of ‘last but not least.’

Helen Watt gave a hillarious vote of thanks.
