Oban rugby boys lose to Caithness
A COMBINATION of Oban Lorne and Argyll and Bute RFC made the long journey north last Saturday to take on Caledonia Division 1 side Caithness RFC.
With a lack of players due to summer work commitments and injuries, Oban and Argyll were combined to make enough squad numbers for the game.
The travelling team put in a good first-half performance against their strong rivals, with Caithness-born, Tommy Sutherland, scoring two tries against his hometown club.
Eventually the home side pulled away to record an impressive 55-10 win, a huge turnaround from Oban’s pre-season win against the same side at Glencruitten last season.
This Saturday, Argyll and Bute travel to take on Aberfeldy in Kenmore while Oban Lorne will have a weekend off pre-season duty.
