Mal­laig lift Uis­dean Mac­Don­ald Cup

LOCHABER high school’s play­ing field hosted a thrilling spec­ta­cle for the Marine Harvest wel­fare league’s Uis­dean Mac­Don­ald Me­mo­rial cup fi­nal on Fri­day.

Lun­davra lost out 5- 4 in the end of a thrilling game af­ter lead­ing 3- 0 at one stage.

An early slip from the Mal­laig goal­keeper, al­lowed Damian Mac­Don­ald to open the scor­ing for Lun­davra.

Shortly af­ter a Michael Rod- gers bullet header in­creased Lun­davra’s lead be­fore Bradley Flannigan rose high­est to meet a cor­ner kick to give Lun­davra a 3- 0 half-time lead.

An early penalty con­verted by Andy Cun­ning­ham pulled Mal­laig back into the tie.

The mo­men­tum was now with them and fur­ther goals from Ross Dou­glas and Neil Cameron made it 3-3 with 20 min­utes to go.

Ross Dou­glas put Mal­laig ahead for the first time be­fore Michael Rodgers con­verted a penalty to make it 4- 4 with just five min­utes to play.

All Lun­davra’s hard work was un­done by a solo goal from Neil Cameron to win the cup for Mal­laig.

Uis­dean’s daugh­ter, Yvonne, pre­sented player and man­ager, Jamie MacGre­gor, with the cup af­ter the game.

Lun­davra were also pre­sented with the Kin­loch Shield which they won ear­lier in the week.
