‘WINDOWS on the World’ is a new competition being launched by The Rockfield Centre.

Already the grounds and huts are being used for various activities and work is continuing on the main building to bring it back to life after seven years lying dormant.

While the main building is being renovated, Oban Communities Trust (OCT) wants to enhance the boarded-up windows by the creation of window murals which will illustrate the purpose of The Rockfield Centre.

Val Hamilton, former head of Art at Oban High School, is co- ordinating the project.

She said: ‘ We want to transform the six tall windows at the front of the building by installing painted panels over these windows. This will not only brighten up the look of the building, but outline the future of the Rockfield Centre through art creation.

‘Designs should clearly inform the viewer of the purpose and ethos of the centre. Background information and how to take part in this exciting competition can be found at www.obancommunitiestrust.org.uk/news’

Eleanor MacKinnon, OCT project manager added: ‘ Windows on the World’ gives a great opportunity for further creative involvement from the community and for artists to showcase their talent. We are all looking forward to seeing ideas come to life.’
