KYLE of Lochalsh’s RNLI volunteer crew turned into a taxi service when they towed a windsurfer they thought was in difficulty.

Lifeboat Spirit of Fred Olsen was called out on the afternoon of August 12 after a member of the public reported seeing a windsurfer in difficulty at Plockton bay.

Volunteers arrived on the scene to rescue the man and discovered he was not in the distress, but the windsurfer was happy to accept a tow back to the pontoons in Plockton.

Just days later, the crew were paged again on the evening of August 17 with a report of a boat with a mechanical failure. The yacht had one person on board and was dragging its anchor close to the shore on Kishorn bay. When the lifeboat arrived, fish farm workers were already assisting, so the lifeboat crew towed the yacht to Plockton bay.
