Num­bers add up for Lochaber school maths chal­lenge pupils

MATHS whizzes from Lochaber high school have won awards fol­low­ing a UK-wide com­pe­ti­tion.

The clever first and sec­ond year pupils com­peted against more than 250,000 pupils from across Bri­tain in the UK Math­e­mat­ics Trust’s ju­nior chal­lenge.

Alan Hamil­ton, S2, stood out from the crowd and re­ceived a tro­phy from Lochaber hous­ing as­so­ci­a­tion for hav­ing the high­est score in the school.

In first year, Mar­tyn Denny and Kyle Dig­nan won sil­ver, with bronze awards go­ing to Fer­gus Ber­ardelli, Cam Clark and Rob­bie Mur­ray.

Of the sec­ond years, sil­ver awards were won by Alan Hamil­ton, Scott Lawrie, Daniel Men­zies and Erin Ni­col­son.

Bronze win­ners were Con­nor An­der­son, John Cum­mings, Gre­gor Lin­field, Am­ber MacInnes, Orla McDougall, Re­becca MacDougall, Ai­dan Kane, Beth Robert­son, Lachie Shaw and Jodie Standen.
