Secretary’s thanks . . .
DAVID Hamilton, secretary of the Macaulay Association, said: ‘Could I please convey through your paper my sincere thanks to all the Macaulay committee, volunteers and officials who helped make the Macaulay Cup final such a success on Saturday.
‘Congratulations go to Newtonmore on their victory and commiserations to Inveraray. But all players and officials must be congratulated on their behaviour before, during and after the game.
‘It was a great day with a great crowd. The weather was good as well because it wasn’t brilliant sunshine which made it easier for the players, and the playing surface at Mossfield was immaculate.
‘It was a good game and Newtonmore were favourites going into the game, but I think if Inveraray had taken their chances earlier on it might have been a different story.
‘The match being broadcast on BBC Two is obviously good as it raises the profile of the game of shinty.’
