Six of the best for Oban Athletic
OBAN ATHLETIC kicked off their league campaign on Saturday when they travelled to take on newly formed Argyll rivals, Roseneath.
Ex Oban Saints keeper, Daniel Cassells, was on hand to help out, filling in for Graham Douglas in goals.
Athletic started the game well despite only having one substitute and, by half-time, the Oban side were 4- 0 up, with Alan Buchanan scoring the first, followed by a Kris Gillies hat-trick.
The second-half began as the first ended with Athletic maintaining their dominance of possession.
Alan Buchanan scored his second of the day in spectacular fashion to make it 5- 0. The teenager hit the back of the net from 40 yards with a first time volley.
Athletic were then awarded a free kick from 30 yards which Sean Ford struck into the top corner to make it 6- 0.
Roseneath then took control of the possession and scored a consolation goal with 10 minutes to go, but in the end the visitors ran out comfortable 6-1 winners.
Athletic are away to Cardross next week in the second round of the league cup.
