Supercar event raises charity cash
A POPULAR supercar event that raises money for Lochaber charities will be televised for the first time this year.
The 2015 Mallaig and West Coast run is set to take off on Saturday and Sunday September 5 and 6.
Mark Ryan has been organising the super car event for six years and it has grown year on year. Last year saw 53 supercars visit the Lochaber area and 35 are expected to appear this year.
Each year drivers donate cash to a local charity and over the past two years more than £600 has been shared between Glencoe mountain rescue service and the RNLI.
This year the Scottish Air Ambulance service will benefit from the generous donations.
Mr Ryan said: ‘The charitable donations are our way of giving back to the community who are kind enough to allow us to disrupt their roads for a couple of hours every year to do our run.’
Drivers will be staying at Ballachulish overnight on the Saturday evening before making their way to Fort William’s Ben Nevis hotel on Sunday.
Times to see the cars on the day will be 10am until 11.15am at Ben Nevis hotel in Fort William and again at 3pm.
They will be in Mallaig between 12.15pm and 2pm where the public are free to visit and view the cars.
