Couple’s thanks to kind people of Argyll

The Oban Times - - Letters - Heather and Andy Holmes, Stockport.

Sir, We are writing to express our gratitude for the kindness shown by the people of Argyll when my husband took ill during our sailing holiday.

We were given exceptional help by staff of the Crinan Canal, Lochgilphead A&E, Lochgilphead taxi company, the ambulance service and Oban hospital. I must thank Isla who, having finished her shift gave me a lift back to the boat on a very wet and stormy night.

The surgical ward staff helped me find local bed and breakfast accommodation during my husband’s hospitalisation, and Ian and Ann MacMillan helped with transport back to Largs. Although it was a stressful and difficult time, we were generously supported by people we did not know and wish to publically express our thanks.
