Field owner saves the day for Appin show

The Oban Times - - Letters - Ross Allward, honorary treasurer.

Sir, Further to your report on the Appin Show in last week’s Oban Times, may I, on behalf of the show committee, express our grateful thanks to Alastair Colthart of Tynribbie.

He allowed us the use of his field at short notice following the assessment on the Sunday prior to the show that our usual field, kindly provided by Ronnie and Mary MacColl at Stalker Croft for many years, was too waterlogged to be used this year.

Without the alternative field being made available, the show would have had to be cancelled.

Our thanks also go to his nephew, Alasdair Colthart, who cleared the filed of its silage crop at short notice.
