Oban airport upgrade work starts
CONSTRUCTION work began at Oban airport on Tuesday, the first of Argyll and Bute council’s Lorn Arc regeneration projects.
A £600,000 scheme will see access improvements to the airport to open up a business park opportunity.
Councillor Roddy McCuish, chairman of Oban, Lorn and the Isles area committee, was on site and said: ‘It is all about making it attractive for investors as a prime business park area, getting them to locate their premises here and bring jobs to the area.’
The work, by the council’s road team, is expected to be complete by November 2015. The money has come from the Scottish government’s Tax Incremental Finance (TIF) scheme, which funds council investment in infrastructure through a loan.
