Cash boost for three groups

OBAN Com­mon Good fund has givn money to three or­gan­i­sa­tions and has re­ceived thanks for money it had al­ready granted at its meet­ing held last month.

Oban Win­ter Fes­ti­val, re­ceived £2,000 plus a fur­ther £1,000 un­writ­ten for the light­ing of McCaig’s Tower.

The lo­cal or­gan­is­ing com­mit­tee of the Royal Na­tional Mod, which will run the coun­try’s big­gest mu­sic and Gaelic fes­ti­val in the town this year, re­ceived £ 500.

A de­ci­sion to fund Soroba Young Fam­i­lies group was de­layed for more in­for­ma­tion.

Changes to the group’s pol­icy, de­cided by mem­bers means ap­pli­ca­tions to the fund will now be re­stricted to £1,000.

The trustees re­ceived a thank you let­ter from the GRAB Trust for the £ 3,000 which it used to buy a re­place­ment van for use at the Lorn and Oban Re-use Ini­tia­tive (LORI) based at the Moleigh Site, Oban.

The next Oban Com­mon Good Fund meet­ing will be held on Thurs­day Novem­ber 19 at 10.30am in the Cor­ran Halls, Oban.

Most items on the agenda are re­stricted be­cause of the sen­si­tive de­tails within ap­pli­ca­tions.
