Cash boost for three groups
OBAN Common Good fund has givn money to three organisations and has received thanks for money it had already granted at its meeting held last month.
Oban Winter Festival, received £2,000 plus a further £1,000 unwritten for the lighting of McCaig’s Tower.
The local organising committee of the Royal National Mod, which will run the country’s biggest music and Gaelic festival in the town this year, received £ 500.
A decision to fund Soroba Young Families group was delayed for more information.
Changes to the group’s policy, decided by members means applications to the fund will now be restricted to £1,000.
The trustees received a thank you letter from the GRAB Trust for the £ 3,000 which it used to buy a replacement van for use at the Lorn and Oban Re-use Initiative (LORI) based at the Moleigh Site, Oban.
The next Oban Common Good Fund meeting will be held on Thursday November 19 at 10.30am in the Corran Halls, Oban.
