Speed cut on stretch of A85

The Oban Times - - News -

THE SPEED limit will be reduced from 60mph to 50mph on a stretch of the A85 between Connel and Achnacloich.

As reported at the Connel community council meeting on September 8, Transport Scotland will start work in the coming months to reduce the speed on the 3.5-mile section of road, following concerns raised at previous meetings.

However, Transport Scotland said flashing 30mph signs at the west end of Connel would not be installed, despite requests from the community council. In correspondence between the community council and the Scottish government agency, Transport Scotland said research had shown there were other areas in the country where traffic speeding as it approached a 30mph was more of a problem, and they would be prioritised for new signs.
