Group legs it six miles to boost ABCD charity coffers
THE ANNUAL Argyll Beats Cardiovascular Disease (ABCD) sponsored walk took place last Sunday raising £1,000.
The group started the six-mile circuit at Oban hospital then made its way round Gallanach via the Kerrera slipway and back by Glenshellach.
Andy Henderson, secretary of ABCD, said: ‘We used to be involved with the British Heart Foundation and raised money for them, then we set up our own foundation so we could spend the money locally.’
Carol Johnston, who was taking part in the sponsored walk with her son, said: ‘It’s something we look forward to and it helps those who are affected by the disease.’
ABCD trustee Glenda Critchley said: ‘I’ve taken part in the walk for the last four years. It’s very important for the charity to get as many people as possible to take part. It’s one of a few good things we do each year.’
The total sum raised by the charity since it started 15 years ago is £200,000.
