Revised plans go on view to public
REVISED proposals to turn the old Fort William high school into new Highland council offices will be available to view on Wednesday (September 16).
The public exhibition for the Achintore Road site will be held at Fort William’s West End Hotel from 1pm until 8pm.
Amended drawings, reflecting comments made during a previous consultation, will be shown, outlining plans for the listed building, which has been empty for more than 25 years.
Anyone unable to attend the exhibition can view the plans from 9.30am to 4.30pm Mondays to Fridays from September 17 at the Highland council service point in Lochaber House.
Woodland group lands £224,000
A COMMUNITY group in Lochaber has been awarded £224,000 to buy woodland.
The Scottish Land Fund grant was given to Glengarry Community Woodland to allow it to purchase land which it will then develop to benefit the public, through parks and foot and cycle paths.
Dave Thompson, MSP for Skye, Lochaber and Badenoch, said he was ‘delighted’ about the grant.
He added: ‘ The purchase of Glengarry Wood and the former Forestry Commission depot will involve the woodland and former depot being developed and managed to provide a wide range of economic, social and environmental benefits to the local community, which is fantastic news.’
