High school pupils step out in style to raise funds

The Oban Times - - News -

MORE than 600 pupils from Lochaber high school walked 10 miles to raise cash for their school on Tuesday.

Pupils walked from the school to Lochaber Rural Education Trust at Torlundy, where they had lunch and walked back, for the annual fundraiser and hope to exceed last year’s £6,000 sum.

Head teacher Jim Sutherland said: ‘It was a beautiful day for the walk and the money will go towards the school’s extra- curricular activities, such as drama, music and sports clubs. It is the school’s main event and we donate 10 per cent to a local charity of the children’s choice.’

Mr Sutherland gave a special thanks to the Forestry Commission, Isabel and Linda Campbell, of the Lochaber Rural Education Trust, and deputy head teacher of Lochaber high Donald McLean.
