It sends out search party for volunteers

The Oban Times - - Leisure -

find new confidence and inspiration.

‘Currently we have 15 cadets, four volunteer instructors with a unit management team in support.

‘Sadly we have a number of problems. In the first instance we need more volunteer instructors, either in uniform or not, whatever they wish, and especially female instructors.

‘As readers will understand, if we are to be open to both boys and girls we must have the instructors to match.

‘We also need a number of volunteers to come forward to join the unit management team.

‘I am sure there are some wonderful people out there willing to assist with the develop- ment of our youth.

‘Members do not have to have nautical experience, just a willingness to give some time to the unit and the corps.

‘Instructors will need to have some nautical knowledge but do not need to be professional sailors. Gifted amateurs are just as good.

‘Our excellent commanding officer is due to stand down at the end of this year after 10 years in post; a requirement of the Sea Cadet Corps.

‘We are scouring the area to find a replacement and feel sure there is one such candidate out there; so please step forward.’
