A NEW, multi-purpose vessel has been launched by Easdale-based company Seafari.

Celtic Trader, an aluminium landing craft, was fitted out at Seafari’s dedicated workshop at north Ballachulish and will operate in both sectors of the company.

Seafari Adventures is tourism-based and the new craft offers ample space for carrying sea kayaks and bicycles.

Seafari Marine Services supplies passenger transport and logistical support for the commercial sector.

Many contractors require cargo to be delivered swiftly with easy loading and offloading to and from remote beaches. As well as deck cargo, Celtic Trader can carry vehicles or trailers of site equipment. The potential to easily load equipment aboard and to use the vessel as a base which has easy access to the water whilst also having the ability to deploy and tow marine equipment was considered in the original design.

Car-free Easdale Island will also benefit when Celtic Trader is at her home port carrying small quantities of cargo across the 200m stretch of water from Ellenabeich to Easdale.
