Oban pool players head for Nations cup in Aberdeen

The Oban Times - - Sport -

FIVE Oban pool players are poised to experience their first taste of the international game, as they set off for the 2015 Nations cup in Aberdeen.

The players all have special needs and play in the Oban Pool League’s Outreach team. They will be part of the six-person squad on September 24 in the granite city.

Currently, Scotland is the only country to have a world rules additional needs section so this is a chance for the players to showcase their talents in the hope that other countries will follow suit.

The six players will play each other and will then be split into two teams on finals’ day to battle it out for the trophy.

The additional needs section is going from strength to strength just now. As well as the Nations cup, the players are participating in the first year of their own national tour where they play against players from all over Scotland.
