Elderly lady’s body found in submerged car

POLICE and fire officers rushed to Cuan Sound on the Isle of Seil last Thursday morning after a body of an elderly woman was found in a submerged car.

The tragic discovery was made near the Cuan ferry slipway at 7.20am when people arriving for work spotted the vehicle under the water.

The emergency services were immediately involved in a major search and recovery operation.

A police spokesman said: ‘The body of an 85-year- old woman was found inside the car.

‘A post mortem examination will take place in due course to establish the cause of death, however there would not appear to be any suspicious circumstances.

‘The 85 year- old woman has been reported missing earlier that day. A full report will be sent to the procurator fiscal.’

It is understood the woman was from the Isle of Seil.
