El­derly lady’s body found in sub­merged car

PO­LICE and fire of­fi­cers rushed to Cuan Sound on the Isle of Seil last Thurs­day morn­ing af­ter a body of an el­derly woman was found in a sub­merged car.

The tragic dis­cov­ery was made near the Cuan ferry slip­way at 7.20am when peo­ple ar­riv­ing for work spot­ted the ve­hi­cle un­der the wa­ter.

The emer­gency ser­vices were im­me­di­ately in­volved in a ma­jor search and re­cov­ery op­er­a­tion.

A po­lice spokesman said: ‘The body of an 85-year- old woman was found in­side the car.

‘A post mortem ex­am­i­na­tion will take place in due course to es­tab­lish the cause of death, how­ever there would not ap­pear to be any sus­pi­cious cir­cum­stances.

‘The 85 year- old woman has been re­ported miss­ing ear­lier that day. A full re­port will be sent to the procu­ra­tor fis­cal.’

It is un­der­stood the woman was from the Isle of Seil.
