Students make the grade
LOMOND school in Helensburgh is delighted with the academic achievements of its young people in this year’s SQA examinations.
Almost half of all Higher and Advanced Higher presentations resulted in an ‘A’ pass this year. While one fifth of all S5 pupils achieved five A passes at Higher grade.
Principal Johanna Urquhart said: ‘It is lovely to see how well our pupils have done after all their hard work. Lomond School is not an academically selective school and we have an open presentation policy. To have so many A passes is outstanding and I would like to congratulate our young people and teachers on all of their efforts.’
S6 pupil Lucy Metcalf gained three A Band 1s, the highest possible achievement, at Advanced Higher and is going on to study chemical physics at the University of Glasgow this year: ‘I wasn’t too nervous as I had already got the results I needed to get into uni, but I still really wanted to do well. I really enjoyed the Advanced Higher coursework and feel well prepared for going on to study at uni.’
