Top cadet moves on
FORT William’s highest achieving army cadet bid a farewell to his colleagues as he leaves for university.
The Cadet Company’s sergeant major Oskar Wineberg, 18, of the 1st Battalion of the Highlanders leaves the battalion having completed his time as a cadet in the Army Cadet Force (ACF).
Oskar joined in May 2010 and has sailed through training and management to complete his master cadet award in March this year - the highest possible achievement for a cadet.
Oskar has also completed all three levels of the Duke of Edinburgh award and was presented with his gold award at Holyrood House back in July.
He has also completed the cadet leadership course and was honoured to be given the role of last year’s Lord Lieutenant’s cadet of Lochaber.
The former Lochaber high school pupil’s next challenge is at the University of Dundee where he will study to become a doctor.
