Fergie with his ac­cor­dion A WELL-known Lochaber and Ar­gyll mu­si­cian felt hon­oured when he found him­self in the mid­dle of a block­buster film pro­duc­tion af­ter he was head-hunted for the part.

Fergie Mac­don­ald, 78, of Achar­a­cle was ap­proached by Lon­don pro­duc­ers when they were seek­ing a mu­si­cian to play tra­di­tional Scot­tish mu­sic in the re­make of the 1949 hit, Whisky Ga­lore.

Fergie said: ‘I got a phone call about a month ago from a woman and she ex­plained that they had looked at mu­si­cians around Scot­land and asked if I was in­ter­ested in do­ing a block­buster film, the re­make of Whisky Ga­lore.

‘I then spoke to one of the pro­duc­tion man­agers who said I was whit­tled down from a long list of mu­si­cians and they re­ally wanted me to play a part in the film.
