Littleport wins Weir trophy in big Dalmally sale and show
United Auctions held its annual show and sale of blackface wedder lambs on Saturday September 12, alongside a sale of crossbred lambs and feeding sheep.
An entry of 8,876 of all classes of lambs sheep met with a sound trade from a strong force of buyers who travelled to Argyll from throughout the country. Responsibility for judging the pens of 50- plus blackface wedder lambs was in the hands of Charlie Proctor, Mains of Tollo, Turriff and he decided on the following placings: 1, and the James Weir Memorial Trophy, Messrs Maclarty, Little- port with 75 lambs weighing 30.4 kg which sold for £ 50 to the judge; 2, Tayvallich Estate with 51 lambs weighing 35.9 kg selling for £ 53 to Messrs Reid, South Park House, Perth; 3, Mrs K Menzies, Corrylorn with 65 lambs weighing 33.7 kg, which sold for £ 51.50 to Mr W Cameron, Keith. Overall, the entire entry of lambs levelled out at £ 41.17 against £ 42.71 at the corresponding sale last year.
