Lit­tle­port wins Weir tro­phy in big Dal­mally sale and show

United Auc­tions held its an­nual show and sale of black­face wed­der lambs on Satur­day Septem­ber 12, along­side a sale of cross­bred lambs and feed­ing sheep.

An en­try of 8,876 of all classes of lambs sheep met with a sound trade from a strong force of buy­ers who trav­elled to Ar­gyll from through­out the coun­try. Re­spon­si­bil­ity for judg­ing the pens of 50- plus black­face wed­der lambs was in the hands of Char­lie Proc­tor, Mains of Tollo, Tur­riff and he de­cided on the fol­low­ing plac­ings: 1, and the James Weir Me­mo­rial Tro­phy, Messrs Maclarty, Lit­tle- port with 75 lambs weigh­ing 30.4 kg which sold for £ 50 to the judge; 2, Tay­val­lich Es­tate with 51 lambs weigh­ing 35.9 kg selling for £ 53 to Messrs Reid, South Park House, Perth; 3, Mrs K Men­zies, Cor­ry­lorn with 65 lambs weigh­ing 33.7 kg, which sold for £ 51.50 to Mr W Cameron, Keith. Over­all, the en­tire en­try of lambs lev­elled out at £ 41.17 against £ 42.71 at the cor­re­spond­ing sale last year.
